We're getting more demanding!

The puppies are getting more and more demanding. They see how fun it is to be out of their "prison" and they are DEMANDING to be let out!
They are getting cuter and cuter by the day. I'm going to miss them all terribly when they leave.

Happy Birthday! SIX weeks old!

The pups turned 6 weeks old yesterday! They are all doing well and getting fatter by the day. Rosie weighs the least at 12 lbs 2 oz and Tucker weighs the most at 13 lbs 14.5 oz. Both boys are getting bigger than the girls now.
6 wks old
Everyone went out on the front lawn last night to watch all the activity - cars, people, other dogs.....very exciting! But very exhausting! It wasn't long before everyone was in a puppy pile.

Joie is doing a great job of disciplining and playing with the pups.

Growing Fast!!!

The pups are growing fast. They've each taken a "walk" out front to watch the cars go by. And they seem to love Indy - they yap at him through the fence. They spend the evenings out in the big pen in the backyard.

There's a whole backyard we can run around in!

We took the pups out in the backyard to run around (2-3 at a time). They thought that was great fun! There's a whole big world out there! They even had more room to chase the lure.
So now the pups demand to be let out so they can run around the kitchen or run around the backyard!
We want food NOW!!
And of course, we have the boyz again...

Let me OUT!!!

The puppies (or more specfically, Rita) has learned that she can actually make humans do things. If I cry, humans pick me up - very cool!!! Well, the humans are starting to catch on and are NOT picking her up, which results in very loud crying and wailing - usually around 2 am. So we're going to see who is tougher - can the human stand up to this pitiful crying or can the puppy cry loud enough to get the neighbor's attention? Stay tuned.....

GRASS!!! It's prickly!

So now the pups have been introduced to grass! EEUUWW! It's prickly! They love chewing on all the little leaves. And grass is a GREAT place to pee and poop!!
You mean I was that size once??? No way!!!

Joie is now nursing about 2-3 times a day. Sometimes she nurses standing up.
Oh when will this all be over???

Eat, Poop, Pee, Play, Sleep.....

Eat, poop, pee, play, and sleep - that's about all the puppies do now. They're really good about standing at the door to the deck to let me know they want to go out and they all poop on the deck. They still pee inside on the paper though.
This is a new surface!!!
Rosie is being squished!

We're getting more and more active!

The pups are trotting around on the deck more and more now!
Joie feeds them 2-3 times a day for short periods. I can tell she would like to feed them more often, but it's getting pretty painful now that they have teeth now.

Now we have a new deck!

The puppies are going out on the deck now. At first it was real scary going down the ramp on their own. Naturally, Rita, Marji, and Dennis were first. They're discovering they have lots more room to explore out there! Marji even stood by the door to go out on the deck. When I let her out, she walked out onto the deck, took a piddle, and came back in! Good girl!!

Pups are now eating out of a big dish all together.
Chow time!

Getting more comfortable with their new digs

Everyone is getting more comfortable with their new digs. They like to run around and fall over and bite on each other. They are pretty good about pooping on the paper, but they pee pretty much anywhere, except on their bed.
Did they plan to fall asleep like this???
Dennis and Marcie like their new cave
Everyone had their first experience today to go out on the deck. Lots of noise about that experience. Some ran out onto the deck (Rita leading the way) and for others, it was a huge, scary new experience. (little Joie). within a few days they'll be begging to go out there.

Starting to eat real food

So the pups are slowly being introduced to real food: ground up kibble soaked in goats milk. They all like it, some more than others. Of course, Rita took to it right away, cleaning her whole plate (1 tbs worth!) Some of the others are more distracted and needed more encouragement. They ate this twice today. Tomorrow we'll try to make it three times and hopefully, Joie can start getting a break.

We graduated to our big yard!

Today the pups moved to their big play yard - no more stuffy whelping pen!  Lots more room to walk around, paper to go potty on, and a little cave to play in - how cool is that? Everyone explored around, walked on the paper, and peeked in their new cave. In a day or so they'll be able to go outside on the deck so they'll have even more room.
Big new play yard!
A few personalities are starting to emerge. Rita (pink collar) is feisty! She's very active and always chewing on someone. Dennis will be a goof. I don't know how I know that, but everything he does just seems silly. What do you expect from a guy whose tongue is always sticking out! Rosie and little Joie are pretty quiet and always behave themselves.

Bigger yard to play in...

The pups have a sightly bigger area to explore now. They're learning how to climb in and out of the whelping pen (with a little help). It's also cooler outside the whelping pen.
A new, larger pen
